Welcome to the temple of canyoning and climbing

Between Zaragoza and the French Pyrenees, discover the Sierra de Guara Natural Park, listed since 1990. In this rugged territory, the rocks have fractured over time to form nearly 70 canyons with undisputed Mediterranean charm. The 47,000 ha of the Park are nowadays the ideal place in Spain to practice many nature activities: canyoning of course, but also climbing, via ferrata and beautiful hikes on foot or by mountain bike. The Natural Park of the Sierra de Guara is a historical site, with its mythical villages such as Alquezar and its many caves with paintings dating back to prehistoric times. It is also classified as a special protection area for birds, a sign of its great richness in fauna and flora.

The caves and canyon of Rio Vero

The Rio Vero canyon is a real prehistoric open-air museum. This forged historical site hosts nearly 60 caves gathered in the Vero Cultural Park, classified since 1998 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site under the title of "Rupestrian Art of the Mediterranean Basin of the Iberian Peninsula". In the caves and shelters, discover in complete freedom the cave paintings, parietal paintings and Paleolithic engravings preserved for thousands of years. The most beautiful caves of Rio Vero, such as the Fuente del Trucho and its 100 paintings, are protected. You can admire its faithful reproduction at the rock art interpretation centre in Colungo, a few kilometres from Alquézar.
