Ordesa National Park via Torla

paredes ordesa

The most emblematic entrance to the Ordesa and Monte Perdido National Park.

Access to the car park at Pradera de Ordesa is restricted during high season (summer, Easter, Spanish national holidays), so you will need to take the shuttle bus that leaves from the National Park Information centre every 15 minutes. The rest of the year, it is accessible and the valley is much more peaceful.

The best known walks in the Ordesa Valley are the Estrecho waterfalls, the Gradas de Soaso and the Cola de Caballo or the Senda de Cazadores. All of them will allow you to admire the singular beauty of this impressive canyon.

Looking for a change of scenery? Choose the Bujaruelo valley, just opposite Ordesa.

It is reached by a forest track lined with huge stone walls and waterfalls, such as the Salto del Carpin. The arrival at the San Nicolás de Bujaruelo refuge (1338m), with its Romanesque bridge that marks the passage to France and the Gavarnie valley, is a real spectacle. From here, there are also numerous hikes, for all levels, from a simple stroll (to the Pont d'Oncins for example) to family hikes (Otal or Ordiso valleys) or for experienced walkers (Brèche de Roland from Boucharot). A treat for all.

After a beautiful day in nature, don't hesitate to go for a walk, shop or have a drink in the medieval village of Torla-Ordesa or, further down, in Broto or Oto, where you can admire the magnificent Sorrosal waterfall. If you are brave enough, you can even get a closer look at it from the top of the via ferrata that runs under the waterfall.  Rafting on the most turbulent stretch of the Ara River, between Torla and Broto, will also delight thrill-seekers.

Discover the old transhumance paths, now less travelled, between the villages of the valley and admire the Romanesque jewels that they conceal: Plaza Mayor and castle (now an ethnological museum) in Torla, the tower-prison in Broto, the fortified houses in Oto, the chapel of San Mamès in Asin de Broto with its rare wooden Christ...
